Original abstractA method and apparatus ( 10 ) for irrigating a plant, the method including the step of placing an end of a fibrous wick ( 50 ) in communication with a source of water ( 21 ) with the wick ( 50 ) delivering the water to a moisture zone proximal to a subterranean root structure of the plant. The deliver of this water is controlled by constricting the wick ( 50 ) to a predetermined degree by means of a constriction member ( 30 ) in order that the irrigation of the plant is substantially self regulating.
